Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that defies traditional expectations, the game developer has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the official statement, "A strange confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of banned ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The storyline features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden cult.
The adventure centers on "strange tests and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses
The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Material
Players who finish the quest will acquire an unique katana alongside multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This update also introduces the game's newest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
